Zine maker program

I also recommend flipping through this issue of F WORD , which is an intersectional feminist zine collective based in Montreal. As you start conceptualizing your zine, you might want to create a journal for the specific purpose of recording your ideas for zines, or otherwise.

These practices are a great way to organize your ideas and begin imagining what the stitching-together of your zine will be like. If the topic of your zine is something your friends are passionate about too, you might want to think about getting them involved. You can ask for people to submit poems, illustrations, essays, collages, etc. If you do decide to work with other people, just make sure everyone is on the same page on their role as a contributor or collaborator. For example, how will contributors be credited?

Will they be compensated? Communicating openly about these questions before anything goes awry is always a good idea. Along these same lines, as you put your zine together, make sure you only use visuals or any type of content that you have the rights to. How specific can you get in terms of what it will cover, what types of content it will include, and what it will look like? And, overall, what kind of impression do you want to give your reader as they take it all in? Having answers to these questions will help you come up with a creative direction the way it looks, the way it feels, and what it includes that can effectively communicate your ideas while also feeling intriguing and cohesive to your readers.

But now, how will you convey what exactly it is you want to say about that food and its unique story? Think about the ways that different fonts, colors, formats, paper qualities, and visuals will change how your subject is viewed. Will your food zine be the size of a scrapbook, full of old family recipes and family photos? Or, will it be something small you can fit in your apron pocket, with a more minimalistic design? These stylistic choices, no matter how small they may seem, send messages to your reader—so think it all over and imagine a plan that feels exciting and right for your vision.

Now comes the fun part: getting everything laid out and stylized. Things to think about here are:. What format will your zine take? Will it be a folded piece of paper, will it be stapled together, or will you have it printed and bound somewhere? Depending on what you decide, you can download zine templates for software like InDesign and Microsoft Word. How will it look? After all, zines are about experimenting. And often the imperfect ones are pretty interesting! It has so many inventive tools that are good for making digital art in general.

These are the different zine formats the program has. When you download a zine as a pdf, it lets you print it as a large letter sized booklet. This page shows you all of the pages in your zine.

You can come back to this page whenever you want. Zine makers would call this a spread of your pages. Before starting a zine, feel free to play around with the tools in the program. Pictured above: the big red start over button. To make the blank pages less intimidating, you can use most of the tools to put down colors.

Where the zine maker really shines is image manipulation. I absolutely adore this program. I got it in a bundle and since then new templates have been added and it's just wonderful. I do have a request. Is there a way to make a seizure-safe version of this? I enjoy the animated deep-fried pixel art aesthetic but some friends of mine who would make GREAT zines probably can't safely look at these graphics.

I love Electric Zine Maker! Thank you for creating it. One thing I noticed is that the zines appear inverted when viewed in safari. Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Thanks again! Hi there! I made a new zine using EZM. Would you mind please adding it to your collection? Thanks very much!

Here is another new zine I made. Thanks again. I made a zine with EZM and was wondering if you could add it to your list! Thank you and I love the software! Will there be a Linux version? I just recently switched to Linux and I'd love to keep using this! Thank you for the software and all your awesome creations Everything is going to be ok was my introduction to your work, and lives not just on my desktop but also in my heart!

Hey my friend is stuck, there's a pop up window and it's all grey and no way to get back to the zine maker not even to force quit it.

The popup window came from the image overlay tool. Any tips on how he should proceed? I like this game a lot :D only problem i have is about the colors. The colors kept changing every time i switched tools or something. Now i can't change the color back to black because now it's stuck as grey. The "better halftones" effect is a bit dangerous - it lets me choose values that lock up the CPU too easily right now!

When you try to export a pdf book of the normal accordion template the pages are all small. Is there any fix to this issue?

I am running this or trying to through WINE since the itchio desktop on linux integrates with it and everytime i try to launch it, I get that popup. I made a zine with this back in November that I've recently put up on my profile!

I love this program :. I just uploaded my first ever zine made with this lovely program!! It's on my profile, and I can't wait to make more!! Lots of love. I recently discovered Electric Zine Maker and I fell in love at a first sight, so here I am, making my own zines.

You're more than welcome to take a look at my profile. T here is only one, but it's just the beginning. Thank you very much! Saving isn't working for me. I'm on Windows. It creates the myZine folder, but it's empty. Exporting seems to work, though. I figured it out, it was something to do with Avast antivirus. Disabling that has made it work.

Sorry to bother you. Electric Zine Maker a work in progress, be gentle, hug it often. More information.
