In the configuration posted as a response in this forum I only see a single gateway configured so the Fail back support for default gateway would not be used.

There are other mechanism that allow for alternate paths to be discovered or "better" paths to be prefered, this would be why the suggestion was made to disable ICMP redirect. While disabling NLA and NSI Services affecting the issue is interesting, I would not be able to confirm why this made a difference without additional data.
