I've been using this receiver for a few years with Energy e xl 15 small bookshelf speakers using regular lamp wire to connect them and sounded ok but when I connected them using solid 14 gauge copper wire used in house wiring, I was very pleasantly surprised how much richer and clear the sound became - wow very impressive combination almost up there with my Mcintosh system. Note that its tricky to keep the solid wires connected to the receiver but worth the effort.

Reviewed Nov 08th, by Michaux. I purchased this receiver new about for a secondary system in a home office and it has provided good service ever since, outliving at least two, higher end receivers in my main system by at least a decade.

It finally quit this week. Its sound was clean and noise free throughout with more than adequate power for my purposes. Perhaps with the aid of the service manual that I found on this site I'll be able to restore it to service.
