It installs as a hidden device driver, without the end-user's knowledge or consent. Reports about destroyed CD ROM devices, unstable or slower-running Windows systems after installing a video game even after it was removed! Older versions of Starforce are not entirely compatible with the bit variant of Windows XP.
Thank you, Geza. If you search the forum you'll find a very nice discussion we had about the use of Starforce and how is the "correct" implementation of it. Splinter Cell 3 took almost 8 months since its release to the market to be cracked and it was using Starforce not only the packer. If you deeply implement the Starforce protection in your game, you may be "safe" for a couple of months. There is a small-to-big performance hit specially at the startup of the game,to much loading time , depending on the protection tricks you're going to use, but you don't have to worry much about it.
All that can to be runned will be cracked. There is no Uncrackable protection's. Starforce use Ring0 based on Protect. But all ring0 protection's like "Xtreme Protector" , if you know, is often unstable on different PC's configuration's and may crush user system. So you can decide yourself use or not this protector. PS: MS is restrict all action's, like Ring0 protection's, in there system kernel, and I think that soon using protector's, like this will be illegal.
Try to test your game protected with SF under the StarFuck sometimes this tool can bypass this protection. MS is not going to restrict anything at all. If it does something like that it won't but anyway gfx card drivers and similar stuff, will be useless, as most of their drivers are ring0 drivers.
It doesn't make sense And Xtreme protector is too old to be an example for "unstabillity". Last edited by rumor; at Clone - with new StarForce or Securom or Safedisc is very, very hard. Maybe only in Plextor PXA - firmware 1.
In new SF the protectinon control the maximum autentifikation with the original CD. Good Luck. Find all posts by deroko. The inexperienced would come to a forum such as this and ask where they can get a cracked copy.
Torrent sites have made it too easy, and I'm pretty sure the millions-billions of torrent files downloaded on a daily basis aren't all for people who can't afford the products. May your terror missions always be infested with Chrysalids.
Honestly, it took me 20 minutes to find the game online and start downloading. The reason most people DL games is not that I can't afford that game, it's that I can't afford the 10 or so a month that I would need to go through to find one that's really worth the money. I get several games a month, play for a few hours and realize it's crap and delete them. When I get a quality product like Aftershock I'll buy it.
First to support companies making quality games, second to have the pretty box. Posted 10 November - PM I don't know about that, why would anyone choose a cracked version over the original if they have the chance to obtain it?
Nearly everyone I know of use cracked cause they can't get the originals. Posted 10 November - PM Azrael, on 11th November , am, said: I don't know about that, why would anyone choose a cracked version over the original if they have the chance to obtain it?
Posted 10 November - PM I will wait for crack or no-cd, its better to wait becouse patches will be available and annoying bugs will be mostly removed. Idiot's make's protections and good people crack them for us and then we are happy gamers. Posted 10 November - PM That is also true, most of the games nowadays are badly done, with graphics taking precedence over gameplay.
Take, for example, Doom3. Now this game costed me 6 bucks, a copy of it not downloaded, bought. I was repented of wasting that on this piece of crap, a fine example of how they gave graphics more importance than the game itself. So if you like the game you are playing, BUY it and one for your friend. Because the kids out there with their parents money will continue to buy eye candy FPS games.
Otherwise, Doom 5 will be selling like hotcakes and good stratagy games like this will be gone. In fact every single piece of software starforce has every tried to protect has been broken within 2 weeks. Which is about the avg for piracy anyway.
